Kylan is a very active and happy boy who continues to make significant progress in his developmental milestones. Kylan has been diagnosed with Down syndrome, West syndrome, and a variety of other diagnoses. He also has an esophageal reflux disorder, seizures, and visual impairment. Kylan is on a diet designed to bring his seizure activity under control. This diet requires that Kylan receive all of his nutrition through a feeding tube. He currently receives occupational, vision and physical therapy. Despite everything, Kylan is a very happy child. He loves exploring the world around him, and he loves to laugh, smile, and play. Everybody who has contact with Kylan instantly falls in love with him. He expresses his like and dislikes for some people, objects and places. Kylan holds objects in both hands and purposefully bang them together. He prefers toys that will light up, make noises, or vibrate. Kylan communicates through crying, smiling, laughing, and cooing. Kylan is not yet talking. He is able to crawl around the home and pull himself up to things. He has a walker for mobility and is able to walk around the home by using it.
Kylan needs a family who is well organized, structured, patient, and loving. His parents will ideally have experience and knowledge in caring for a child with medical needs. His family will be aware that Kylan may require this care into adulthood. Kylan must reside within three hours of a children's hospital.
