Meet Marnez

Meet Marnez

Meet Marnez from Michigan. Marnez is 15 years old and has Down syndrome. Placement fees are waived since this is an adoption from foster care.

Meet Marnez!

Marnez, who also goes by MJ, is a teenager with a gentle nature and a bright smile. People who spend time with him describe him as a happy young person who enjoys laughing and being around others. When he feels comfortable, he engages with the people around him and shows excitement through smiles and laughter.

Movement and sensory activities are an important part of Marnez’s daily life. He enjoys running, swimming, and going for walks, and he takes advantage of opportunities to be active. Marnez is fascinated by swings and balloons, and he also enjoys sensory-friendly activities such as using fidgets or sitting in a spinning chair. At quieter times, he likes rocking in a rocking chair, swinging his blankets, or playing with musical toys. Music is another favorite pastime, and he especially enjoys listening to songs by Michael Jackson. Marnez also shows enthusiasm around food and snacks. Sour Patch Kids are a favorite treat, and he reacts with visible excitement when he receives them.

Daily routines include opportunities to practice practical skills. Marnez benefits from patient adults that help him master household and living skills from pushing in his own chair after dinner to helping with tasks around the house. Each new skills gives Marnez a sense of accomplishment, pride, and independence.

Marnez maintains connections with important people in his life, including ongoing relationships with his birth relatives. These relationships remain an important part of his story and should continue to be supported.

Marnez would do best in a two-parent home with patient, experienced caregivers. He would likely thrive as the only child or the youngest child in the household in order to get the attention he needs. With attentive adults who understand his needs and celebrate his progress, Marnez can continue building skills while enjoying the activities and routines that bring him comfort and happiness.

Placement fees are waived since this is an adoption from foster care.
