Thank you for thinking of including the National Down Syndrome Adoption Network in your future plans. By establishing a planned gift to support the mission of the NDSAN, you are ensuring that we will be able to help connect children with Down syndrome to loving families for generations to come. You are making a lasting investment in the lives of children with Down syndrome. There are a variety of ways that you can include the NDSAN in your plans. A few of the most common methods include:
Bequests are the most frequent and simplest form of a Planned Gift. A bequest is a transfer of property by your will – for example, cash, stocks, or bonds to an individual, a nonprofit or an organization.
Life Insurance, IRAs or Retirement Funds Beneficiary Designations
A gift of life insurance allows someone to contribute a previously acquired policy that they may no longer need for its original purpose, and realize its tax benefits. One option is to name the NDSAN as a named beneficiary of a life insurance policy, company pension plan or a private plan, such as an IRA, Keogh, or tax-sheltered annuity. There is also the option of listing the NDSAN as just a percentage or lump sum beneficiary of the aforementioned benefits. Gifting of pension plan benefits can help you avoid both income and estate taxes.
Special Needs Trusts Beneficiary
Another option that some families are considering is to name the NDSAN as the beneficiary of any remaining assets from a Special Needs trust after the passing of their child with Down syndrome. Doing so honors their child’s legacy and serves as a way to also give back to future generations at the NDSAN.
Informing the NDSAN of your Intentions
Please let us know if you have included the NDSAN in your will or estate plans. We want to acknowledge and thank and you properly. Hopefully, others will be inspired by your generous and thoughtful example. We will recognize your gift by including your name in all DSAGC Legacy Society listings, if you so desire. If you prefer to remain anonymous, please advise us so that we may honor your wishes. The best way to inform us is to fill out this electronic form, LEGACY SOCIETY INTENTION (Pending).
We appreciate your interest and support of the NDSAN and encourage you to contact your attorney, accountant, financial planner, or tax advisor for specific information on how any planned gift applies to your situation and desires.
